Chapter 37: Across The Boarder They Turn Water Into Wine

The bell rung at the Bongiovi household while Pauline was still in the kitchen. "Jess, they're here!" she yelled from there hoping Jesse was somewhere close. "I heard that!" he yelled back and walked closer to the door and opened it. "Hello! Come in!" Jesse said with a smile and gave a quick hug to his parents. "We brought dessert!" Jon said holding a bag. "It's cheesecake!" Dorothea answered and Jesse closed the door behind them. "Where are the boys?" Jon asked his son while he was trying to spot them on the living room. "Oh here they are!" he said and gave Jesse the bag. PJ and Kevin were sitting on the floor playing with some trains and cars when they saw their grandfather walking to their direction. Kevin was the first to recognize him and started clapping his little hands.

Jon's heart started melting as soon as he walked closer and lifted them both up into the air. "You missed me guys?" he asked them but the only answer he got was a smile. "Jon they're too young to talk!" Dorothea said from behind and took PJ from his husband's hands. "Don't listen to him PJ, he's too old to understand!" she joked. "Very funny, very funny!" Jon answered a little annoyed. "Where's Pauline?" Jon asked as he let Kevin on the floor to play with his toys. "She's in the kitchen! Wanna go outside? The table is all set!" Jesse said smiling proudly because he set the table. "Yeah, sure! Bring some wine on the way back son!" Jon said again and lifted Kevin while he followed his wife with PJ on the pattio.

Jesse walked in the kitchen to where Pauline was making a vinaigrette for the salad that was on the fridge. She checked the famous lasagna in the oven. Jesse put the cheesecake on the fridge. "Everything alright in here?" he asked and put his arms around her. "Yeah, i'm just finishing this and we're all set!" Pauline answered a little nervous and he saw that. "Don't tell me you're nervous, because that should be me." "Me of course not! It's just your parents!" Pauline answered and turned off the oven and opened its door. "It's a big night and i hope to hear a yes." Jesse added and Pauline faced him. "Hey, it's a great idea and i'm sure your Dad sees that too. You have nothing to worry about Jess." she tried to comfort him with a kiss that followed soon enough. "Hope you're right." he replied praying she was right.

Momments later they were all sitting at the table next to the pool enjoying the early night breeze. "This taste amazing Pauline!" Jon started with his seconds place half finished. "Thank you!Its not the best but you know with work and the kids time seems so little." Pauline answered and took a bit of her plate. "How is work? It's been almost 2 months right?" Dorothea asked her. "It's good, i mean better than i thought. My Dad helped me a lot and things were getting better by the day!" Pauline asnwered feeling a little more confident about the new role she had in her father's company. "How about you? A new song perhaps?" she asked and looked at Jon. "We're taking a break from this now, we have more important things to do." Jon replied and looked over to this grandsons who were sound sleeping.

"I'm sure you do!" Jesse said smiling. "I think i'm full, where is that cheesecake?" Jon said as he put his fork and knife down next to his plate. "I'll go get it!" Jesse answered back quickly and stood up. "I'll go with you." Jon said right after and both of them left leaving their wivies alone. As Dorothea watched them walking away she turned to Pauline. "How are you Pauline? Really?" she asked her with a glass of wine in her hand. "I'm okay, just a little tired but coffee helps a lot." she joked because that was her mechanism when she was nervous and she was for some reason she didn't know yet. "You sure? You barely touched your plate tonight and that lasagna you made were amazing." Pauline was looking at her trying to find out where this was going.

After taking a sip of the wine Dorothea said again "You probably don't know this but Jon saw you in the Kitchen on your birthday, the night before we had a fight about something i don't even remember." she paused and chuckled a little. "And he came back home with a huge bouquet of roses and he told me 'I met a girl today in the Kitchen and she had the same fire in her eyes just like you.' and he gave me the roses and disappeared." she paused again and drunk more wine. "And i was standing there wondering what just happened. And when i met you that day the fire in your eyes turned into light in Jesse's eyes. I'm old enough to know what's wrong or what's right and you are something more than right for my son. When Jesse was in the hospital i blamed you, i blamed her and i blamed myself and i know i apologized to you so many times but still i don't think that's enough. I mean you were only 17 when that happend and still you were acting like an adult when Jennifer walked in."

Dorothea stopped and took Pauline's hands into hers and looked deep into her eyes until a tear appeared in the corner. When she heard Jennifer's name she felt sick to her stomach. She hadn't heard it in years and still the anger she was feeling didn't go away. "I know we don't talk too often but if you ever want talk to someone about anything i'm here for you and i mean that." Dorothea finished leaving Pauline speachless next to her. They never had that kind of conversation before not because they didn't like each other but simply because it didn't happen. "Thank you." she managed to say between tears.

As these two women were hugging tight each other, the men of their livies were in the kitchen. Jesse opened the door of the fridge and found the cheesecake. "You good Jess?" Jon asked as his son closed the fridge's door. "I'm perfect! Really." he replied and placed four plates and four spoons on the table next to the cheesecake. "I'm happy for you. Both of you." Jon said and turned to his son. "Thanks Dad!" smiling Jesse took the dessert with the plates and silverware in his hands. "I hope this doesn't change when you'll working more hours." Jon added when Jesse was on the edge of leaving the room but he stopped when he heard those words. Trying to process the last sentence it hit him. Jon on the other half was laughing when he saw his eyes open wide when he faced him.

"Does this mean that we're doing it?" he said while the feel excitement took over his entire body. "Yep, i wanted to tell you first." was all he could say before Jesse was hugging him closer than any other day. "You won't regret this one Dad, i promise!" "You better!" Jon said when they broke the hug. "I spoke with some friends and we're leaving next week." he added. "Leaving? I can't leave Pauline alone with the boys." Jesse asked back suprised with eyes opened wide. "We need a supplier Jess and we can't make this kind of deals from here." "Where are we going? I did my research and i must say on the South they have some very nice wineyards." Jesse answered and looked up at his father. "Yeah, i know but if we want to do this the right way we must go all the way..." Jon said but stopped as he was a little afraid to tell him where they're going. "Dad where are we going?" he asked him again. Jon sighed and finally told him "Languedoc." Jesse was looking at him puzzled trying to understand where on Earth is this place. "Where is that?" "It's about 40 miles outside of Montpellier." Jon answered as calmy as he could.

"That's in fucking France!" Jesse yelled this time. "Hey watch your tongue young man!" Jon stopped him soon enough. "Sorry, but i can't leave them! Pauline needs me here to look after the boys when she's at work." Jesse spoke his truth. "I know but if we miss that chance there is no point of doing it. It's your idea Jess you must fight for that." Jon told him and nodded his head. He knew what was going on in his head. He had been in that place more times that he could recall. Jon knew what was asking from him was hard and he hated it but this was business. "I know." Jesse replied simply while he was looking down at his feet. "I'll send you your ticket when i get home." Jon said after several seconds of silence and touched his shoulder with his right hand. Jesse just looked at him and nodded while his father was walking away leaving him alone with the cheesecake in the kitchen.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Jesse was siting on the edge of the bed with a suitcase half ready in front him. He was starring at it for minutes now and he didn't notice Pauline walking in. "Ready?" she said softly knowing the thoughts in his mind were is someplace else. He jumped a little at the sound of her voice. "You need a helping hand with this?" she said again and she sat next to him on the bed. "I got it!" he said. Pauline was looking at him his eyes were locked in that suitcase. "You should pack that baby blue shirt, it looks great on you." she tried to keep the conversation going. "Already in." Jesse answered simply. "The boys will up soon, you should spend some time with them before you leave." she said and looked at him. "Are you sure you can handle this? I can stay here if you say the words." he faced her this time. "No way! You go there and make a fucking deal. Besides what kind of a wife i am if i'm not here to support you." Pauline said and hugged him close. "Just focus on this Jess. We will be fine here!" she added while she was still hugging him.
When they broke apart Jesse watched her eyes close. They looked so tiried and black cirles were beneath them. He knew she was tiried but she never said a word to him. "I'm doing this for us, i hope you know that." he spoke after several seconds. "Yes, Jess. I know. Now let's wake up the boys." Pauline answered and stood up quickly. Jesse followed her and soon enough they were in the nursery room. He watched his sons sound sleeping in their cribs and how much they grew up the last months. He couldn't be any prouder of the family they created. Jesse walked closer to PJ's crib and he tried he wake him up and gentle as he could. "PJ come on buddy. Time to wake up." he whispered and touched his back. PJ slowly opened his eyes and saw his father smiling down at him. He smiled back at him as he said with his sleeping voice. "Dada!"
Jesse could feel his heart melt at the sound of this simple word. He took him in his arms and filled up his lungs with that baby smell PJ had. His little hands were around his neck as Jesse was still hugging him so close. "Dada!" he heard an another voice from the other side of the room. Kevin was standing tall in his crib trying to find his balance. Pauline was sitting right next to to him and was wacthing them. Jesse walked closer to Kevin and took him in his arms. He was holding them so close that he thought that this is how Heaven must look like or feel like. "I love you so much!" he said while some tears followed because he will not see them for the next three weeks and that was tearing him apart.Pauline was watching the men in her life together thinking how will be able to take care of them for the next three weeks. Of course she had all the help she needs but still it was not the same. Jesse looked over at her and said "Come in here Mommy!" she smiled at stood up from the rocking chair and filled the gap between the three of them. "We love Mommy too, right boys?" Jesse said and looked at them who smiled. Pauline chuckled a bit as he kissed him softly.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Pauline was at the office. It's been a week since Jesse was in France with his father. It was not the best week and not the worst. Her mother was taking care of the boys while she was at work but when she was back home she was all alone with them. Work was hard the last couple of days and she was getting tired very quickly. She thought that being young and full of energy will help her get throught this but at this point she was mistaken. She was looking at the computer screen for sometime now. They were about to close a huge deal with a client and that will be the first she did on her own. She was nervous because she wanted to show her father that she could manage this position. Time flew by and outside was getting dark and cloudy. She checked her phone and no text from Jesse who was half world away. She wished they could talk more but with time difernce and their busy schedules that seemed hard enough.

She knew at this point she will not get any work done so she diceded to leave. She was alone in the building after all. She turned off the computer and closed the door behind her. She was about to text Jesse when she saw in the office next to her that Harry was still there. She looked in throught the glass door but the chair was facing the Trenton skyline but she was able to see his blonde hair. Pauline knocked before she opened the door. "Hey, what are you doing here?" she asked him. Harry heard her and quickly moved his chair. A violin solo was echoing from the speaker and as she walked closer she notised a bottle of Jameson whiskey half empty. He whipped his tears as quickly as he could. "I-I'm sorry i thought you were gone. You need anything?" Harry said with a shaken voice. "Are you arlight?" Pauline asked him and sat on the chair rigth across from him.

"Yeah, i'm okay. I'm just blowing some steam." he answered trying to hide the truth. She was starring at his eyes that were now turned red from crying. "I know it's not my place but if you need anything you can talk to me. I'm pretty good friend and i'm not your boss, we're way passed working hours." she said laughing hoping this will make a diference in his emotions right now. Harry chuckled a little and took a sip of the whiskey that was on the table without using a glass. "It's too late now, Pauline." he simply said and stood up. With the Jameson in hand he was looking outside of the window but he was not paying any attetion actually. "Her name was Emily.We met in London. I was visiting a friend from College and she was cousin of my friend's girlfiend." he started but he stopped to take a sip of whiskey. "She was the most beautiful person i've ever met and i was just a boy who fell madly in love with her. I was supposted to stay there for a week but that week turned into a month. It was hard with the time difference and the things i needed to do here but somehow we managed. She was a member of the Royal Orchestra playing the violin, Queen's favourite." he stopped again as tears were rolling down his cheeks.

"She gave all that up in a heartbeat. My apartnemt was not that big but we managed, found her a job here and i was feeling like i owned the world only because my world was hers. She was playing for me every night and with every note she was hitting i was flying to place far away from here with her. The next day i spend all the money i was saving to buy a new car and proposed to her, she accepted. A few weeks later we found out she was prengant. Nine months later our daughter Charlotte was home with us until..." he paused only to whip his tears now. Harry looked at Pauline was waiting for his next words. "On a rainy day just like this on this exact date they were coming here to pick me up and all three of us we were going on a party to one of Charlotte's friends from school but THEY NEVER FUCKING MADE IT HERE!" Harry screamed at the top of his lungs the last words and with whatever strenght had left in his body he threw the dark green bottle of whiskey to the wall on his left.

The bottle shattered as soon as it hit the wall while the liquid was rolling down slowly. Harry was in his knees crying and swearring to God, to the universe, to his luck. "I bought that new car and it took everything i ever cared about with it including myself. I'm fucking empty! I feel nothing! I care about nothing! Do you understand?" Harry met Pauline's gaze who was still in shock and her brain was not working properly right now. What can she possible say to a man who lost his wife and daughter? Probably nothing. "I was blaming myself and wondering what i've done wrong. I'm trying to be sane 364 days only to loose it for one day of the year." he said and slowly stood up.

Pauline was still looking at him and she could not imagine how much pain his was feeling right now. Being a mother herself she couldn’t ever bare the thought of not seeing her sons again. Soon her own tears followed as she was watching him like this. She approached him while he was down on his knees crying. She didn’t speak a word. She knew words don’t matter at all in these situations. She hugged him close hoping all the broken pieces of his heart will find their way back together. Harry hugged her back a little tighter than the usual.

"I’m sorry…" he said between tears while his head was resting on her shoulder. "Let it out Harry. Let it out." Pauline answered back meaning every word. Her heart was breaking inside as Harry let out a scream that could make all his demons hide or that was what she thought. She was holding him for more than 40 minutes while hard autumn rain was falling down from the dark clouds. "Come on, I’ll drive you home." Pauline whispered.

"I have my scooter." Harry simply said and stood up. He used a tissue to whip off the remaining tears in his eyes. "I’m sure your electric scooter is 100% waterproof." She said and stood up as well and checked the time on her watch. "Don’t come tomorrow and on Friday." She added while she watched him folding his shirt in his pants. "No, no! We’re about to close that big deal. I need to be here." Harry replied quickly. "All you need to be is home. We’ll be fine for two days without you Lord Commander!" Pauline answered trying to make him forget what today was and she knew he was a huge Game of Thrones fan.

Harry chuckled a little. "Okay, your Grace." He said and watched Pauline making probably the worst bow he had ever seen. Both of them laughed out loud. "Thank you for tonight. Things might have been different if I was alone." Harry said when he found his breath from the previous laughter. "Don’t you ever say that again. I really can not imagine how much this hurts but as long as I’m around you are not going anywhere! Is that understood?" she spoke looking his in the eyes. As she was keep staring at them she realized how much they look like Jesse’s and how much she was missing him right now.

In just a few minutes they were inside Pauline's car. With Harry's direction they arrived at his condo. "Thank you so much for tonight, again." he said when Pauline stopped the engine of the car. "That's what friends are for." she answered with a smile. "I should probably go." Harry spoke as he saw the rain outside getting harder and harder. "See you on Monday Harry Charlesworth." she told him hoping that he won't show up tomorrow at the office. "Drive safe." he said as he opened the door and with a rapid move he closed the door behind him and disappeared into the rain.

As she watched him walking away from the car there is ony one thing she wanted at this moment. She grabbed her phone and called Jesse. She waited a few seconds until he finally answered. "Hey Paul, i can't talk right now. I'll call you back." that was what Jesse said and hung up the phone leaving his now crying wife alone in the rain.

Chapter 36: That's What The Water Made Me

 "So, nervous for tommorow?" Ava asked Pauline while they were watching their children playing together. "Kinda. I mean it's all new to me and it will take some time but i think it will be alright." Pauline answered and drunk a sip of water and placed ot back on the coffee table. "The thing is that i'm already so tired with the boys and really have no idea how to handle this. I mean my Mum and Dorothea were kind enough to help me but i don't know..." she started and looked back at Ava. "I'm sure they understand. They have been in your shoes and there is no way they will ever say no to help with their grandchildren." Ava started. "With Jess, everything cool now?" she asked back a few seconds later. Pauline sighed.

"Truth to be told, it's harder that i thought. With the lies and all that. But he seems so passionate about that wine idea of his and to be honest i missed that." Pauline answered and looked across the room where Jesse and Alex were talking. "If this works then the hardest part is next!" "What do you mean?" Ava asked back and raised her eyebrow. "He'll be gone all day and i'll be gone all mornings. We have two kids and i can't do everything on my own." Pauline answered. "I'm sure you'll find a way, you always do find a way somehow. " Ava said and smiled at her when the bell rung and Alex run from the other side of the room.

A few minutes later the table was all set and the four of them were eatting some pizza. "Thanks guys for coming in such a short notice." Ava said first. "No worries, i think we need that. We have so much going on and we need one night with friends." Jesse answred smiling and took a bite of his slice. "Yeah, i'm sure about that." Ava added and looked at her husband who looked back at her. "Actually the reason we invited you here is not only that." Alex spoke this time. "What happend now?" Paulined asked back and looked at them both as Jesse did the same. "Well..." Ava started "I had a few auditions the last month for a show on Netflix and..." Ava added while she was trying to hide the growing smile on her lips. "I got the part!" she finished.

"No fucking way!" Pauline managed to speak first with her eyes opened wide. Ava was across from here laughing harder than she done before. Pauline stood up and hugged her so tight Ava could barely breathe. "For which show?" she asked whrn they broke the hug. "Is it new? Have i watched it?" Pauline was still asking questions. "Easy girl! You have watched it since season 1." Ava answered. Pauline was looking at her a little puzzled while she was trying to remember every single series she had watched over the years. "Oh Ava tell us already!" Jesse said this time. "It's Riverdale! It's the finale season and they want new faces to keep the drama going." Ava spoke and looked at Pauline who was probably going crazy with what she just heard. "You got be fucking kidding me!" Pauline said with a raised voice.

Ava was still laughing wih her reaction but she managed to answer "Yeah, i know! I said the same thing when they called me." "You in Riverdale? I mean this is huge girl! I'm so fucking proud of you!" Pauline said with teary eyes and hugged her best friend one more time. "Thank you!" Ava simply answered. "I definitely need a photo with Cole Sprouse!" Pauline added smiling. "Sure!" "But wait it's not filmed in US!" Pauline asked while they all sat down to the table again. "That's true...It's filmed in Vancouver, British Columbia." Ava said with a heavy heart. "But that's in Canada! Will you move there?" Pauline asked back a little shocked but she already knew the answer to this question. "We have to. They have everything arranged for us and Ben." Ava said with a sad voice. She didn't want to leave but one the other there is nothing else to do and of course turning down a role like this was not an option."Okay, when are you leaving?" Pauline asked hoping that they still have some time. "20th of August. We have time don't worry. Tommorow i will sign the contract and get a small deposit." Ava spoke the truth and continued eatting her slice of the now cold pizza.

Only two hours later Pauline and Jesse with their boys were already back home. Thankfully the boys were tired from playing and were not a trouble for the bath time that followed when they arrived home. Once they were on their cribs clean and with new diapers in a matter of seconds they fall asleep peacefully. Pauline kissed their foreheads goodnight and left a small light on before closing the door behind her with the monitor in her hand. Being tired herself and stressed for tommorow she went straight to bed where Jesse was already there waiting for her. "You put the alarm on babe?" she asked him before she turned the lights off. "Yeah! Come here it's so lonely!" he said and lifted the bed sheet for her.

Pauline smiling she walked on her side of the bed and placed the monitor on the nightstand next to her phone. She let her hair out of that loose ponytail and layied on the bed beside him. Jesse covered her with the bed sheet and placed his body on her back making him the big spoon for tonight. "Ready for your first day?" he asked. "I think so." Pauline answered quickly because it was true. "Will you be okay with the boys?" she asked him. "I'll be fine. My Mum said she will come by around 11.00 am." Jesse said while he was holding her. "You tell me that now? I have to clean the house!" "I don't think she cares about that." Jesse answered calmly. "But if its so big deal for you, i will vacuum and mop." he added and kissed her spacula softly. "That will be nice." "I told you. I'm trying to do better and i will be more involved with boys and the house when you're gone." Jesse said. "Now, get some sleep Paul, it's getting late." he added a few seconds later and Pauline turned around to face him and gave him a sweet kiss goodnight.

The next morning arrived sooner than Pauline thought. Being nervous like she was she was suprised she was able to sleep for a couple of hours straight. The boys never woke up in the middle of the night crying like they used to. She was thankfull for that too. All these thoughts were running through her head while she was putting her mascara on. She was so far away that she didn't notise Jesse walking in. Jesse was watching her close. He knew she was nervous and that was a huge change but he will be a fool not to notice how beautiful she was at 6.30 am. Her hair were down making a small curle like always. Wearing a polka dot red dress with a pair of brown Birkenstock was on of his favourite combinations.

"I made you coffee. Hope this time i got the sugar right." he almost whispered. Pauline looked at him with the corner of her eye still holding the mascara on her left hand. "I have no idea what i will do without you." she said with a sweet and yet sleepy voice of hers and wrapped her arms around him and kissed him. "You will probably have to make your coffee on your own." Jesse joked when they broke the kiss. "Smartass!" Pauline replied and turned the bathroom light off and walked through the master bedroom. She grabbed her purse and a notebook. "Have you seen my phone?" she asked him in a panic while she was looking around looking for it. "It's downstairs next to your coffee." Jesse answered calmly and kind of laughing at her right now and she knew that. "You look beautiful you that right?" Jesse said but he didn't need an answer because he was sure.

"Thank you!" she said as her cheeks turned a little red. "You know it's hard to leave while you're looking like that." she added a few seconds later and walked closer to him. He was shirtless and wearing only a pair of shorts. She placed her palm on his bare chest. "Love you Jess." she simply said and kissed him again but this time she was trying to gain any power she could from him to face what was coming. "You got this babe." he said when their lips broke and placed a tender kiss on her perfectly shaped french nose of hers. She nodded and together walked down the stairs to the door. With car keys on her hand and the coffee on the other she was watching Jesse waving at her when she unlock the car that was parked in front of the garage.

She sat and turned on the engine of the car. She connected her phone with the bluetooth device she got on Amazon and picked her favourite playlist on Spotify. Jesse was still there watching her when she drove away. The only thing she loved so far was that because it was still early there is almost not trafiic at all. While she was singing along to 'Livin' on a prayer' she almost missed the 6B exit but for some reason she didn't care. After giving birth to PJ and Kevin she discovered how anxious she could get even for the smallest things and she was tryin to change that with the way she could. She was now driving on the I-195 Highway to Trenton she was looking forward to it probably for the first time but she didn't want to admit that.

Sooner than expected she arrived at her new office feeling more confident than ever. With that cap of coffee Jesse made for her half empty she tried to unlock the door but it opened wide in front of her. That was weird she thought. She knew she was here early and probably her father was already upstairs enjoying a few minutes on his own. The elevator door opened and she walked on the long hallway. The lights were all off. Nobody was there and dead silence filled the air. She heard a sound coming from the kicthen from the other side of where she was. She shallowed hard even though she knew her Dad was making coffee. With her phone on her left hand she walked closer to the small kitchen.

She felt so relieved when she saw Harry making a coffee pot. He heard her coming from across the hallway. "Goodmoring Pauline! You're here early." Harry said smiling at her. "Good morning to you too. You sceared the fuck out me!" she said while her heartbeat returned to it's normal beating. "Sorry. I'm always the first person to arrive here. I should have told you yesterday." he answered. "That's okay. I will get used to it." Pauline said and nodded. "Want some coffee? I just made a fresh pot." "No, thank you. I left mine on a desk." she replied. "If you need any, you know where to find it." Harry said and placed the pot to the coffee machine and drank a sip of his black coffee.

"So, let me show you your office." he added and passed her by with the mug on his hand and Pauline followed him. "I did my best to clean it. I could have done it better if i had the time but you know your Dad." Harry continued and looked over his shoulder at Pauline. "You know i can clean my own office." she said while she was following him to the other side again. "I know, but the guy who used to have the office before was not the best person." Harry said and stopped in front of closed door. Pauline knew this room was next to her father's and that was good she thought. Harry opened the door and both of them walked in.

A quite specious office with a wooden big desk was on the back with an amazing view of Trenton skyline. On the left was a couch with a small coffee table and huge bookcase on the other side of the wall. "I'll leave you here to enjoy the last minutes before the madness. If you need enything i'm right next to you on you left." Harry said with his mug on his hand. Pauline turned and met his gaze. "Don't worry i got it!" she replied smiling and watched Harry leaving and closed the door behind him. Alone now she left her purse on the couch and walked around the desk and sat on the chair. Looking around like it was her first job but somehow she was so relaxed now and ready for anything. She took a large sip of that iced coffee of hers and clapped her hands and right after that she turned on the computer.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"Thank you so much for watching them for today." Jesse said his father who was sitting on the floor playing with Kevin and PJ. "It's the least i could do. After all i know what today is." Jon answered and smiled at him. "She told me you send flowers and called her on the company's phone. That poor girl Rachel totally lost it." Jesse said and laughed. "What? It's her birthday!" Jon said and gave PJ a small train he wanted. "I know! I have to go now or we'll be late." Jesse said while he saw the time on his watch. "Where are you taking her?" "I won't tell you because you will call her!" Jesse said and knelt down to say goodbye to his sons. "I won't do that!" Jon said back suprised. "Yeah, like i don't know you! We will be back before 10 pm, if you need anything call me!" Jesse told him with his car keys on his hands. "Everything cool here! Go have some fun, you need it!" Jon spoke and saw Jesse leaving the room and then the house.
The ride back to his house was not long and he was still on time for what he had planned for this special evening for his wife. He parked the car on the driveway outside of the house. He opened the garage door and took the two helmets on his right. Without turning the engine on he rolled the motorcycle in front of the door. With a few quick steps he was on the front door nervous like it was their first date he knocked the door. Only a matter of seconds later Pauline oneped the door. "Jess where have you been? Where are the boys?" she asked him first. "The boys are with my parents and you..." he paused and grabbed her arm and pulled her closer to his body and kissed her. "You my birthday day wife are coming with me for a couple of hours!" he added and took a step back to show her the motorcycle.
"I promised you to take you for a ride and i think today you deserve it the most. Happy birthday Paul!" he said again and wrapped his arms around her only to kiss her again not leaving her any time respond. "Take a jacket and your phone and let's go!" Jesse added exited when they broke the kiss. "Where are we going? I need to get dressed!" Pauline said and looked at him. Jesse saw that she was wearing shorts,  a white tank top and a pair of Havaianas. "Okay, were jeans and bring a jacket with you. You will need it." Jesse said and looked at that suprised look on her face. "Oh and no makeup!Go! Go!" Jesse ordered his wife who was puzzled than before. "Okay, give me 10 minutes." she said before leaving him alone in front of the door.
Pauline kept her promise and 10 minutes later she walked out of the house wearing a blue pair of jeans and white t-shirt with a grey hoodie in her hands. "That works?" she asked Jesse who was leaning against the bike holding his helmet in his hands. He smiled while he responed. "Perfect. Come on Paul we have miles ahead of us!" he said and sat properly on the bike and turned the engine on. "Miles? Where are we going?" she was keep asking him but he never said a word. "You'll see..." was his answer while Pauline sat behind him and wore her helmet. "You sure it's okay to ride it? I mean it's older than you." she asked when she was comfortable enough. "Of course! I paid well to have it this baby up and running. My Dad almost never ride it exept from the video. I told you it's good as new, Paul." Jesse said and paused to look over his shoulder to his wife. "Ready birthday girl?" he asked and she nodded yes. With a huge smile on his face Jesse put the first gear on the motorcycle his father used in 'Miracle' video clip and drove away.
After almost 160 miles and two stops for rest they finaly arrived at their destination Sag Harbor, New York. They were walking in the Marina holding hands and looking at the boats. "It's nice up here, even though my back hurts!" Pauline joked. "Really maybe i will give you a massage later." Jesse said with a playfull voice. "I'll think about that!" she answered and winked at him. Jesse was scanning the people on the boats only to find the man he was looking for. He smiled hapilly when he saw him. "Ready for your present?" he asked her when he stopped in front of a boat. Pauline was looking at him as puzzled as she was looking at math when she was in High School. In front of her was a white with light wood details 62 feet yacht.
A man in his early 60s approached them. "Jess my man! Come on up!" "Hey Sam! You're on time this afternoon!" Jesse joked as he stepped on a small ladder and then he was on the boat. He turned around and saw Pauline looking at him still puzzled. "Here take my hand!" he offered her and she grabbed it in no time. "Welcome on board! Happy birthday Pauline! We wish you all the best in your life!" the man she had never seen before wished her and smiled. "Thank you very much sir!" "There are no sirs here, only captains! I think it's time so sail!" Sam said looked at his watch and disappeared. When Sam was gone Jesse turned to Pauline and asked "So what do you think?"
Pauline was looking around like lost. She had no idea what was about to happen next but she didn't care of course. "I love it! This is by far the best birthday present i have ever received. Thank you!" she said meaning every word and pulled him closer for a soft kiss. "This is only the beginning, Paul! Let's go to the bow, it's beautiful up there!" Jesse said and took her hand and lead the way. When they arrived a very large blanket was laid down with a bottle of wine and small cake with one candle. Jesse took the cake in his hands and lit than candle. He sang with the way he could the happy birthday song all by himself while Pauline's cheeks were getting red. Before she blew the candle out he stopped her "Make a wish first!" "I have everything i want, there is nothing left Jess!" Pauline told him while their eyes locked and he tried to hide that huge smile that appeared on his lips when he heard those words.
Smiling at him she blew the candles out and she hugged him tight like never before. The early afternoon summer breeze was making them chill while the speed of the yacht was getting higher and higher as they left the small marina. After the hug Jesse reached for the bottle of wine that was were waiting to be popped. With a gentle move Jesse opened the bottle of rose wine and purred some in the two glasses. He looked deep into that hazel eyes of hers and said “To my other half! Happy birthday Pauline, I love you like the stars love the Moon always and forever together in the sky!” Pauline knew he was always good with words and making her feel more special than she actually was. But what she just heard was something more, something else. After they clinked their glasses, they took a small sip of the wine. “You didn’t have to do all this Jess!” Pauline said while she was looking the shore fading away. “Of course and I had to. It’s your first birthday as my wife and we need to celebrate that too! Cheers!” he said and drunk more of that pink juice as Jon used to call it. Jesse purred more wine in her glass and later on his. They drunk one more large sip and Pauline looked at the blanket that was behind them and sat on it followed by Jesse.
She took a spoon she found there and took a bite of the cake. “Is that a red velvet cake?” she asked him surprised as he sat beside her. Jesse chuckled knowing it was her favorite. “I really have no idea what I’ve done in this world to deserve you!” she said and met his gaze.This time Jesse blushed probably more than he should, but he wasn’t able to control any of his emotions at this moment. Pauline took the cake and put it on her left and she moved closer to him. She touched that red cheek of his and told him “I love you seems so little right now and somehow I forgot all the words I know.” She almost yelled this time. The wind was strong and but her feeling were a like tornado destroying everything on it’s way.
She met his lips for a long passionate kiss her hand was on his back. Jesse was resting on his elbows right now he knew where this was going. With his free hand he made her come closer to him as possible, it was getting colder and colder as they were sailing to the open ocean. “Paul, let’s go inside. You’ll catch a cold if we stay on the deck and people might see us.” He told her when he was able to catch his breath after this amazing kiss. Pauline looked around and saw some other boats near by. It was early afternoon in the middle of August and that part was known for the water activities.
“Okay.” She said loud enough for him to listen and then smiled. They stood up and Jesse took the wine bottle with them as they made their way carefully on the side of the boat where a small staircase was. They saw their captain Sam who closed the door when he heard them coming. He had known Jesse since he was a little boy and didn’t misunderstand them. They passed a few closed door and found a small ladder which they climbed down only to find the big room of the yacht. It was quite spacious with a queen size bed and glass windows around. Jesse closed the door and looked at her one more time before he kissed her.
He lifted her up and she locked her legs around his waist while he walked closer to the bed and gently placed her on top. He stopped there for a second and placed the wine bottle on the night stand next to bed. He took his hoodie off and laid right beside her on the bed. Jesse placed his fingertips on her flaming cheek and smiled again because he was happy. That was what he wanted, only her. Their love life was not that intense like it used to be before they had kids and that was something they knew. With her new job and taking care of two 10 months old babies was more than exhausted. He understood that very well and he didn’t want to put any kind of pressure on her even if that means to put aside his needs. But tonight she was his and nobody could change that.
He kissed her again and reached for her hoodie which was actually his and took it off. He continued kissing her as he moved to her neck. He knew that was the spot she adored. Moving lower he took her t-shirt off and threw it on the other side of the room and placed himself on the top of her without leaving her skin from his lips. His fingertips were running her arm and took a turn on her back and unbottoned her bra. He looked up at Pauline who was enjoying every single second of it. She had in mind that when you're mother of twins and also a workinh one the free time is very limited just like the love life with your husband. Jesse never told her anything about that she was certained he wanted to be with her more often. But all that didn't matter right now because they were alone and Jesse was kissing her already hard nipples.
With a not so gentle move and took of his shirt, jeans and her jeans followed soon enough to the hard floor of the yacht. She stopped him when he was about to take her underwear off. For a second he thought that she was tell him to stop but instead she grabbed the bottle of wine a drunk a very large sip and offered him some. He was no fool to say no an overpriced rose wine. He whipped off some drops of wine that fell on his chest as Pauline took of her own underwear. Watching her naked in front of him he knew he could be able to control himself for longer and the wine didn't help at all. She locked her eyes with his and said in a voice that could make an angel become a demond in a matter of seconds. "Fuck me!"
She was defently drunk right now and she was in control of the situation. Jesse was only human after all and could not resist her calling. With a rapid move his boxers were on the floor. He placed himself on top of her again and entered him as slowly as he could. She was tight and yet so wet and that made it pretty easy for him. Pauline closed her eyes as he started moving inside her. She could not deny that she needed it that right. It might be the wine or maybe the sea or even because it was her birthday, she didn't know. All she knew was that he wanted him like the roses need the rain and he wanted hr like the poet needs the pain making them a perfect combination.
Without loosing the strong tempo he had, Jesse took her hands and placed them left and right of her head and locked his fingers between her. Now he was moving a little faster maybe he was drunk too, maybe the idea of them making love was alchool enough for him. He looked down at her and eyes were sealed and he could hear her breathing was getting havier and havier by the second. His heart was beating fast and he felt like a thousand horses were running through his veins when he collapsed on top of her.
He stayed there and she started playing with his hair like she used to. He laid on the left side letting her spoon him this time. She kissed his cheek and covered his body with hers. He turned at her and said "I'm sorry." Pauline raised her eyebrow and asked back "For what?" "For taking so little but..." he started but she stopped him by placing his finger on his lips. "Stop right there Jess. You have nothing to be sorry for. I missed that too you know." she tried to comfort him but it was also true what she told him. "Okay..." he said with a little sadness in voice. "I think we need more wine." Pauline said and sat up on the bed trying to find the bottle of wine somewhere in the room. "We have to drive all the way back Paul." the wise Jesse spoke and Pauline reconsidered what she said earlier. "Yeah, you're right! We were drinking wine like water here. Anyway, do you have any idea where we are?" she asked back and looked over the window over the bed.
"That's Hampton over there!" Jesse said and pointed with his finger the shore with the flashing lights. "Paul what did just say?" he almost yelled. "What did i say?" Pauline asked a little suprised by his question. "Hampton Water!" he said and his eyes opened wide but Pauline still had no idea of what he was talking about. "You are a fucking genius Paul!" Jesse said and kissed her. Pauline was studying his face and then it hit her. "A possible name for your company?" " Yeah, it's easy to remember and kinda catchy don't you think?" Jesse asked all exited. "You have the name already which is more than 50% of the success of the business." Pauline replied smiling as she was watching him be so passionate about this.
